Central Linn School Board Resolution and Public Notice to Support Local Decision-Making

September 20, 2021  /  District

WHEREAS, on July 29, 2021, Governor Kate Brown directed the Oregon Health Authority and the Oregon Department of Education to create a rule to require masks indoors for K-12 schools statewide for the 2021-2022 school year.

WHEREAS, Oregon education has a long-standing history of effective support for students and families by allowing local leadership and community to make health and safety decisions for all students served.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Central Linn School Board objects to the July 29th mandate as a form of Government overreach that eliminates options and choices for leadership closest to students and families to support ongoing health and safety.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED the School Board supports the return to a local decision-making model which includes a partnership with district leaders and the Local Public Health Authority on all health and safety issues for schools.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the School Board believes our schools are safe and welcoming to all staff, students, and community members. The School Board aims to keep students in school and supply them with the best academic experience possible while keeping students, staff and community members safe.

The above resolution was approved and declared adopted on September 13, 2021.
