As many of you read, the State is moving the School Opening Matrix from mandatory guidance to advisory guidance. This means that the state is not mandating that we are closed or open for in-person instruction, they are leaving it up to our judgement in consultation with the Linn County Health Department. Following safety protocol is still mandatory and smart.
I hope that our actions over the last 6 months have shown our desire to have kids in school in-person. We also feel an obligation to do so safely.
We stopped in-person instruction due to local (Brownsville/Halsey zip codes) disease levels 3-4 times the county rate, staff quarantine, a few parents sending children to school when quarantine was appropriate and guidance about local spread from the Linn County Health Department (LCHD).
Our leadership team will be meeting the week of January 4th to review local infection rates, staff health/availability and to consult with LCHD. Expect more communication at that time. Our goal is to start adding back in-person instruction as soon as possible. Please help us by following public health guidelines.
