School District Acquires New Buses

May 13, 2015   -   Central Linn Spotlight

We are very pleased to add six newer Blue Bird front engine transit school buses to our fleet. Three are currently on routes, and the fourth will be added shorty, with the last two in the process of being inspected and made ready for our use. .

They are 78 passenger, which means they will fit 65 kindergarten through 12 grade passengers. The discrepancies between 78 and 65 comes from the fact that the buses are designed to fit 78 kindergarten passengers….due to the fact that our students growth does not stop at the age of six, more room is needed for older passengers. The mileage for the buses are around 150,000. They are replacing buses that had 250,000 miles on them, which will lead to less hours and funds being spent on repairs and breakdowns, something we are all very excited about it.

The Transportation team at CLSD looks forward to hauling our favorite cargo to school and back using an updated fleet for the remainder of the 2014-15 year. Some quick reminders. We request that students be a their bus stop five minutes before the usual time of pick up time as routes can vary due to road conditions , sub bus drivers and other variances. This is the time of the year when we have lots of extra field and sports trips, which can lead to routes doubling up without prior warning. Animals, bug in jars, or items that could present a safety hazard (like large pumpkins that outweigh your child) are not allowed on the bus. Should you have any questions, please contact the Transportation Department at 541.369.2813 extension 3252.
